Common questions

For anything not covered here, email support@citizenoz.com and we'll reply.

What is on the Australian citizenship test?

20 multiple-choice questions, each with three answers, taken on a computer in English in 45 minutes. Every question comes from the testable section (Parts 1 to 4) of the official booklet, Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond: Australia and its people; democratic beliefs, rights and liberties; government and the law; and Australian values.

What score do I need to pass?

At least 75%, which is 15 of 20, and you must answer all 5 questions on Australian values correctly. Miss one values question and you don't pass, whatever your score. CitizenOz marks every practice test by both rules.

Are these the real test questions?

No. The Department of Home Affairs doesn't publish its test questions. CitizenOz's 444 questions are written from the booklet, cover every section of Parts 1 to 4, and each one shows the booklet page it comes from.

Can I hear the questions read aloud?

Yes. Every question, answer and study note can be read aloud in an Australian English voice, like the real test's text-to-speech, and you can slow it down.

What is free, and what does Pro cost?

The free trial includes 60 questions across all four parts, fact cards and a free practice test, with no card needed. CitizenOz Pro includes all 444 questions, unlimited practice tests and every fact card: A$7.99 a week (cancel any time), or A$29.99 once for good.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without one. A free account (Sign in with Apple, Google or an email code) only syncs your progress between devices, and you can delete it in the app at any time.

Is CitizenOz an official Home Affairs app?

No. CitizenOz is an independent study app and isn't affiliated with the Australian Government or the Department of Home Affairs. Home Affairs publishes the booklet and an official practice test for free, and we link to both.

Walk in ready.

The free trial has 60 questions and a practice test, and you don't need a card.
